The 2010 Ashdale Cluster Primary Science Extension Program included eight students from each of the cluster primary schools – Ashdale Primary School, Landsdale Primary School and Madeley Primary School. The teaching program incorporated practical learning experiences conducted in the Ashdale Secondary College science laboratories and were run by the teaching staff from both the Primary and Secondary schools.
The rationale of the program is to improve the performance of student achievement in the Science Learning Area through a safe and supportive learning area. It aims to broaden the students’ knowledge, skills and conceptual understandings in the Science Learning Area through a differentiated and motivating curriculum. The program “Whizz, Fizz, Pop!” was designed to provide students with first hand experiences in the chemical and physical properties of matter and allowed students to develop their analytical and perceptive capabilities by providing them the opportunity for them to explore their world in greater detail.
