Science in Years 7-10 at Ashdale follows the Western Australian Curriculum and has three interrelated strands:
- Science Understanding
- Science as a Human Endeavour
- Science Inquiry Skills.
Together, the three strands of the Science curriculum provide students with understanding, knowledge and skills through which they can develop a scientific view of the world.
The Science Understanding Strand is broken down into four units in which specific contexts are explored:
- Biological sciences
- Chemical sciences
- Physical sciences
- Earth and Space sciences
Students are assessed on their ability to interpret scientific concepts and apply them to new situations. They are also assessed on their ability to frame their own scientific investigations and discover new facts about the world.
